Day Two: Friday Shuffle – The Skating in at the Last Minute Edition
Posted by RobinNov 2
And here you thought I wasn’t going to post on the second day of NaBloPoMo! It’s 11:20 PM, CDT, so I’m still good in 3/4 of the US.
I didn’t intend to be this late. B., Clara Jane and I spent the evening at the OtherRobin’s house. Her computer is ill, which means two things: 1) if you follow that link, it’ll be the same thing you read last time you followed her link, and 2) B. had an excuse to do three of his four favorite things: eat pork, drink beer, and work on a sick computer.
We stayed late enough – not because of the ill computer, but because B. was stalling on returning home, where he had work he’s paid to do awaiting him – that one child was mostly-naked, a bottle of wine was killed, and harmonicas were being played.
Otherwise, as I predicted, there’s not much to say. It was a quiet day at home in which I did 289 loads of backlogged laundry, created a large boxful of trash, and covered the dining room table with shit I need to take to my room in the basement. See? Excitement never ends.
Tomorrow? Greek carryout from the local Greek Orthodox church, possibly in the company of the Monday Mom Posse. We can no longer go more than 30 hours without seeing each other.
I know a part of the NaBloPoMo thing is to force people to think up stuff to write, even when they’re blocked. I don’t care. I’ve had half a bottle of wine, it’s pushing midnight, and I want a taco. Although here’s some excitement – a guy just walked down my street, loudly talking to himself. No, I’m not going to shuffle along behind him. Unless he’s got tacos. And even if he does have tacos, I’m betting he wouldn’t share. From the sounds of it, he’s got a lot of personalities to feed.

My bedroom window faces the alley behind my building. I think this guy may be my neighbor’s great uncle or something.

Oh yeah. I’d follow a weirdo too if he were sharing tacos. I’d do a lot for a really good taco.
