Everyone Loves Baby Horses!
I have nothing of import to post. You don't want to hear about my day. Trust me. You don't want to hear about the hissy fit Clara Jane threw when I refused to let her listen to Wilco's War on War for an 18th time in a row today. I mean, that's enough to put a dent in even my deep, abiding love for all things Wilco.
You also don't want to hear about the fit she threw because I had the audacity to first give her purple Play-Doh, and then orange Play-Doh, instead of the green Play-Doh she required to live.
And you really don't want to hear about the screaming that occured by multiple people when she slammed two of her fingers in one of my desk drawers.
You know what makes everything better? Pictures of baby horses.

Yeah, I ran like that a few hours after I gave birth. You know I did.
Because I'm an only child - or because my parents aren't right in the head, I'm not sure which - our pets were always referred to as being my siblings. So this baby horse is my new brother. By that accord, his parents are my sister and other brother, which means my family is far too Ozarkean for its own good. But that would explain some of the troubles they're having with this new little guy. His mother - my sister, the horse - is having nursing issues. Having been through breastfeeding hell two years ago, I find myself offering advice. To a horse.
I refuse to rent her a breast pump. I've gotta draw the line somewhere.
Also, to no one's surprise, the little guy was born on Wednesday, which means his name is supposed to be Ditzy Little Obnoxious Eighth Grader, after my cousin's child who shares the horse's birthday. I'm going to call him Obnoxy for short.

He's so cute! I love the tiny little star. And momma looks proud -- you can tell by her prancing and the carriage of her tail. ;-)

You know, I came here this morning JUST to see if the foal would be named "Ditzy Little Obnoxious Eighth Grader". ;)
He's beautiful!

So adorable!

I like what the name represents now.........but dude - he has a THIRD EYE! Doesn't that mean something on some spiritual Buddhist, Zen; Chakras lining up sort of plan?

My vote is for Angus. And then tell the Ditzy Little Obnoxious Eighth Grader that it's named after her. That should make her day.

He's so sweet :)

That little horse is way too good to be named after a ditz!

He's a cutey and I think Obnoxy is a cute name too. :)
My family rebelled against Wilco yesterday -- they did not want to listen to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and we were in MY car!

My mom thinks my dog is her grandson, even though she just got a real one a month ago. She's weird. I think it's our hometown, sweet Poppy.

Big Daddy, my mom refers to Chloe as her first grandchild, but she lays no claims to Murphy. I don't blame her.
The little horse-man is doing well. Still nameless, but otherwise he's happy and energetic.
Bonus point for anyone who can come up with a good star-related name for this little man.

How about Cassiopeia - Cassy or Casey for short?
Posted by: Barefoot Cajun at March 27, 2006 05:01 PM
I'd thought about Cassiopeia, too, until I found out he was a boy.
Shortly after I posted the name request, I talked to my mom and she said that they might have come up with something. She does graphic design-type-stuff for a company that prints elementary school yearbooks, so she sees lots of names on a daily basis. This weekend she saw a kid in one of the books named Cash. They like this because, with his lack of nursing, he's cost them plenty of cash so far. They also knew I'd like it for the Johnny Cash connotation. He's kind of a bad-ass, and his star is half-black, so I think Cash rocks.

I have a dauschand for a sister. I swear...I call my mother and she says..."Your sister wants to talk to you." Then she put Ginger on the phone. I speak to her (if I'm at work or in public, I protest loudly) and she'll start howling at me because she knows my voice. I understand the pets as siblings/grandchildren/children thing. Way too much, I think. I can't not become my mother.

Oh, and Cash is a doll! I posted some comments on your Flickr site.
