Friday Shuffle - The Blown to Hell Edition
Did you hear that St. Louis got blown to Hell Wednesday night? Nearly literally - huge storm and mass power outages before what was the hottest day of the year. For God's sake, please let it have been the hottest day of the year because if we have another day where the heat index rises above 114 degrees, I want someone to bludgeon me to take my mind off it.
We lost power Wednesday night. Then we got our power back around midnightish. We luxuriated in air conditioned comfort on Thursday, got far too hautey for our own good, and lost power again Thursday night. It's still not back. Clara Jane, the dogs, and I are at my parents' house. I was in the midst of blogging about it when the second power outage hit.
While I get my head back on straight, let's shuffle.
1. Ain't Ever Goin' Back - John Haitt (Yeah, that's kind of how I feel right now.)
2. You Look Like Rain - Morphine (With 80 mph straightline winds)
3. Louisiana Lowdown - Cowboy Mouth
4. Too Darn Hot - Ella Fitzgerald (No fuck! Really?)
5. This Mountain - Kasey Chambers
6. The Bewlay Boys - David Bowie
7. Time to Get Ill - Beastie Boys (Darn tootin'! Somebody break out the Brass Monkey.)
8. Bowtie - OutKast
9. Help! - the Beatles (Oh yeah.)
10. Phaser - Superdrag
That's a pretty fucking accurate shuffle. Only thing that would have made it even more appropriate would have been the appearance of Tom Petty's "Refugee".

I've been thinking about you guys, and I was surprised to see you had posted today. I hope things get better quick. We've had similarly ridiculous temperatures, but thank heavens haven't lost power. The "big city" down the road did this week and we've got a severe heat advisory until Sunday.... Hope you all and your home are OK.

Good to see you back. I hope that things are going ok and you can relax in Sed-ville. Love your new layout. I'll try to call later.

another storm this afternoon - this time IL took the biggest hit.
When I took my son to preschool this am, there were people grilling the contents of their freezers all over Tower Grove Park (which looks like a war zone, BTW)
Hang in there and wave to my mom if you drive past JC.
PS: ever hear any Lone Justice? nominations: "Wait till we get Home"; "After the Flood"

I just found out where you were holed up and I'm glad you're safe and sound. I heard about the storm via other sources and I've been thinking about you and my other St. Louis area buddies and hoping everyone is in one piece.
Hope things are back to normal soon. Come home with a Chigger story or two!
