The Good n' Bad
Yeah, yesterday I said I'd blog about books. My brain isn't working that well, though, so you'll settle for more fragments.
This wasn't a happy sight to see first thing in the morning upon letting my dogs outside:

Alas for you, Donkey from "Shrek". I guess since Boy got busted trying set fire to Donkey yesterday, he had to settle for impalement.
No, I didn't knit them myself. Angela gave me the yarn for my birthday in 2005, when I first attempted (and repeatedly failed) at sock-knitting. A few months ago, in a fit of failrure, I tossed all my sock-knitting supplies into a box and shipped them to my pal Dixie in Germany. About ten minutes later, I learned to knit my own damn socks. Regardless, she's still wrangling my previous, obviously cursed, yarn into custom-fitted socks for me, and the first pair arrived today.
Yes, I know they don't quite match. That's not Dixie's fault; it's an anomily with the yarn, which makes me love them even more.
This wasn't good, though. Clara Jane threw a massive hissy fit at Barnes & Noble today. When I stepped towards her to pick her up, she went all boneless on me in a heap on the floor. I put my hands under her arms and just as I lifted, her bones miraculously returned, rocketing her from the floor directly into my chin. She took quite a blow to the noggin - her second in three days. I've got a bruised chin, sore jaw, and bite marks on my lower lip. Eating dinner tonight was fun. The wine burned, but was obviously necessary.
When I got home with my battered mandibular region and tired, cranky, possibly head-injured child, I had an email from Kristina with a link to a leak of the new White Stripes single. That makes all the pain go away. Except for the ringing in my ears, but I think that's my own fault.

I've listened to "Icky Thump" five times today, and when I got home from work tonight, called my brother to tell him how awesome it is. Wish he had internet!
I hope you're not all black and blue tomorrow...

Whoa on all counts.

Yes! White Stripes! Now I can rock out, perchance with my cock out.
While you process that image, please do accept my condolences regarding little Clara Jane's tantrums. Eli threw one so severe he once knocked out a tooth...looks like Clara Jane might be trying for yours. Perhaps a mouth guard is in order. Or you could strap a pillow to her head.

I am going to say something to you so entertaining and comedic that you will forget your troubles. It will be even more therapeutic than the White Stripes single because it will make you feel SUPERIOR.
Here goes:
My baby will NEVER throw a tantrum like that in Barnes and Noble! I won't LET HER.
Snort. I can't even type it with a straight face.
Seriously dude, you're scaring me.

first, thanks for reading and commenting on my myspace blog of your interview q's. i truly enjoyed it, esp. the ipod shuffle. okay if i emulate (shamelessly copy) you and blog on that more often?
i'm very glad you will (hopefully) be out of your current neighborhood b/4 "Boy" graduates from stuffed animals to real ones. that kid is scary!

Know what's funny? When knitting I always think of the sock I knit first to be the left foot sock and the second sock of the pair to be for the right. The one on your right foot was knit first so it looks to me like you're wearing your socks on the wrong feet.
Yes, I am that strange.
Glad you're digging the socks. I loved knitting them. My first short row heel!
Hope your injuries are feeling better today. Those toddlers can be lethal!

I thought you were in abject horror over the massive bagworm nest in the bushes. I hate those things.
I have a goose egg on my forehead from leaning in too close to see what a student caught in his net today at the ponds in Forest Park. That's what I get for being the same size as my students.

Kristina, I bought "Icky Thump" on iTunes today. I looked for the single yesterday but didn't see it. Today, it's there.
Summer, put it back in your pants. I was going to ask if you wanted to see the WS when they come through St. Louis. Now, I'm not so sure.
Oh, who are we kidding? Of course I want to see you rock out, perchance with your cock out!
In the meantime, I like the pillow idea.
Julie, you just cursed yourself in a big, big, big way. Oh, I can't wait to hear the Mary Grace version of these tales in three years!
Beth, feel free to liberarlly borrow anything I do on my blog. Chances are, I'm borrowing it from someone else.
Dixie, I wore the socks all day today and they were wonderful! They didn't slip, ride down, or bind at all. Very comfy. And for the record, I wore them on the opposite feet than the photographs depict. I meant to take a picture of them with my favorite Mary Janes, but forgot.
Allison, I'm not crazy about the bagworm crap, but since it's in Boy's yard, I'm sure it'll burst into flames before the end of the weekend.

Pixie (my 2.75 year old) has given me three black eyes in the past two months. The most reecent was last night.
It sounds like Clara-Jane and Pixie both do noodle-body, turned surprise-flail, attack. But the two do have their differences. It sounds like Clara Jane pogos into your face, where Pixie headbuts and crotch-kicks.
She's like a mini soccer hooligan.
This is something that has just started happening since Three has been looming on the horizon.
I'm scared. If more of this is what I have to look forward to, I'm not so sure I'm ready for three to come.
But thanks for the White Stripes song! This is the first time I've gotten to hear it, and I love it! Did I mention that you rock? Because you do!
